The purpose of the windshield washer pump is to bring washer fluid from the reservoir and spray it onto the windshield, or onto the rear window (where applicable). Washer fluid allows the wiper blades to clear dirt, dust, and grime from the driver’s line of sight. If this is not done effectively, it can become difficult for the driver to see the road or any potential driving hazards.
Over long periods of time and use, the windshield washer pump may begin to fail due to blockages or simple wear and tear. If washer fluid is not spraying out of the washer nozzle evenly, or not spraying at all, it may be time to replace the washer pump.
